“Have you packed your baby hospital bag yet?” The question for every mum-to-be that starts popping up as your due date approaches. Here's a list of everything you will need to help you prepare for the arrival of your little one - for mum and for baby!
For mum
-
Snacks! Pack a variety, because you never know what you’ll feel like! Just be sure to include something with some sustenance like protein balls or a yummy trail mix
-
Drinks bottle
-
Phone charger
-
Change of clothes
-
Swimwear (if a waterbirth is on the cards)
-
Button-down pyjamas & slippers. The more luxurious, the better
-
A notebook & any birthing notes/birth plan you may have prepared to outline your preferences for the big event. Download contraction app onto your phone
-
Maternity bra
-
Soft, stretchy, high-waisted undies x 5
-
Maternity pads and/or disposable undies
-
Something comfy to wear home. (Think your favourite loose dress, or soft, elasticated pants)
-
If you plan on breast-feeding, there are a couple of things that are handy to have, just in case. Breast pads (to absorb leakage), and a nipple balm
-
Your regular toiletries, though splurging on some boujee ones for that first post birth shower will make you feel AMAZING! (cleanser, moisturiser, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, a pack of hairbands, a hairbrush, shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo, deodorant and makeup wipes)
- A TENS machine if you plan on using one for pain relief
